Temperature Converter

The Temperature Converter works across Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin, the three scales used in science and everyday life. Because the scales start at different zero points, it applies the exact offset formulas and shows the temperature in all three scales at once.

What this means

Temperature scales measure the same physical quantity from different starting points. Celsius and Kelvin share the same step size; Fahrenheit uses a smaller step (1 °C = 9/5 °F). That is why conversion uses an offset plus a factor rather than a single multiplier.

How we calculate it

Formula

°F = °C × 9/5 + 32. K = °C + 273.15. °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9.

Worked example

Convert 20 °C to Fahrenheit:

  1. 1°F = 20 × 9/5 + 32
  2. 2°F = 36 + 32
  3. 320 °C = 68 °F
