What this means
Business days are the days most workplaces operate: Monday to Friday. Counting them between two dates means walking day by day and skipping Saturdays, Sundays and any holidays you list. A span that looks like 10 calendar days can contain only 6 working days.

Business days = weekdays from the day after the start date through the end date, minus holidays that fall on weekdays.Worked example
From Monday August 3 to Friday August 28, 2026:
- 1Calendar days between = 25
- 2Weekend days in the span = 6 (Saturdays and Sundays)
- 3Business days = 25 − 6 = 19
Important assumptions
- Weekends are Saturday and Sunday.
- Days are counted from the day after the start date through the end date, matching the days-between rule.
Frequently asked questions
Do you count the start and end dates?
The count starts the day after the start date and includes the end date — the same midnight rule used by the days-between calculator. A Monday-to-Friday week gives 4 working days.
How do I exclude public holidays?
Enter each holiday on its own line as YYYY-MM-DD, for example 2026-12-25. Holidays that fall on a weekend are already skipped and are not counted again.
